 Sakura

Went to Shinjuku Gyouen today for hanami, to see cherry blossoms. It was like being at Disneyland, so crowded. The weather was nice but I wish it had been even warmer. I found it funny to see so many men taking pictures with little pink flowers.

Between getting off the train and going to the park, the left pocket and I searched Takashimaya's food basement floor for bento to take with us for lunch. It took a long time to find something healthy and not too expensive but also substantial. Left pocket said, Where are the hawkers?

I chose a counter that had half-filled bento for a fixed price and three open sections for you to choose the kind of mazegohan, or mixed rice, you wanted. Out of the five choices, I chose the savory looking ones. I passed on the bean rices and got the bamboo, chicken, and aburaage ones. Yum yum yum. The other stuff in the bento was half a tofu burger, some marinated carrots, a cut of yakitamago, some marinated greens, whipped potato salad, kabu? salad, and ume pickles. Yum! It was 630yen.

On the way to the park we ran into our friend and his girlfriend. We had also run into him coming off the plane from Singapore! I don't know how many times we've unexpectedly met. Japan is small...

It's no fun shopping in Japan, where I know everything costs more than it does in Singapore. boohoo..

EWWW we just heard rat feet running across the cieling. Kimoi!

I'll show you pictures when I can. The left pocket's computer badly needs to be defragmented before I upload. Goodnight!

Seize the food, for Japan is time-service only! In other words, this blog is to preserve, share, and make the most of my six months left living in Japan. Yes, I am obsessed with food. Cheap food!

Life is short so I eat fast, lest it get cold or disappear. I'm currently teaching English in Japan for two years. I was born and raised in California, and will be returning there in Summer 2005. I was ovo-lacto-vegetarian for about seven years but decided to let it go during second year in Japan!
